Songfork's User Information Requests
These guidelines describe how law enforcement can request user information from Songfork, the types of data we store, and the procedures we follow.
Our Guiding Principles
At Songfork, we are committed to upholding our users' rights while adhering to the laws that govern our operations. When processing information requests related to our users, we follow principles of jurisdiction compliance, specificity, and user notice.
- Jurisdiction — we comply with valid requests from law enforcement in line with applicable legal frameworks.
- Specificity — all requests must pertain to specific accounts involved in particular investigations.
- User Notice — we notify users when we disclose their information, unless explicitly requested otherwise by a competent authority.
Information Stored by Songfork
Some information we store is collected automatically, while other information is voluntarily provided by the user. We cannot always guarantee its accuracy or whether it relates to a real individual. We do not require users to provide real names, email verification, or identity authentication.
Public Information
Most account information on Songfork is public, meaning anyone can view it. A Songfork profile may include a profile picture, display name, uploaded tracks, and playlists. Users can also opt to include their location, URLs, and a brief bio.
Non-Public Information
Non-public information about registered users may include:
- Email address(es) associated with the account.
- IP address at the time of account creation.
- IP address from the last access to Songfork.
- Month and year of birth.
Submitting a Data Disclosure Request
Your request must include a valid subpoena, search warrant, or court order sent via email, fax, or post. All requests must contain:
- Requesting agency and law enforcement agent name.
- The profile URL of the Songfork account in question.
- Details about the specific information being requested.
- Legal grounds for the data disclosure request.
- The reason for your investigation and how the requested data relates to it.
- A valid agency-issued email address for verification and communication.
Emergency Disclosure Requests
We may disclose user information in response to a valid emergency disclosure request. Law enforcement agencies may submit such requests if they involve imminent danger of death or serious harm. Emergency requests must be submitted via email with the subject line 'EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST.'
- Identity of the individual in imminent danger.
- Nature of the emergency.
- Songfork profile URL(s) of the relevant account(s).
- Details of the specific information requested and its relevance to the emergency.
Production of Records
Unless otherwise requested, we will provide records in electronic format (e.g., PDF files), compatible with most word processing software.
Assisting a Songfork User
If you are assisting a Songfork user with an investigation and need to obtain a copy of their non-public account information, please ask the user to contact us directly. We will assist the individual in obtaining the necessary information.
